Rainy Days

There is something about a rainy Sunday that always makes me smile. No obligations, no pressing matters.. just a good book and some trashy tv. I managed to run a few errands this morning, and made it home in time for grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for lunch. What a wonderful surprise 🙂

I feel like the house is so lonely now that Corbin is gone. While I love this whole “being an only child” thing, I feel the need to interact with people under the age of 50. Luckily, I will be starting work this Thursday (at Lilly Pulitzer! yay!) and classes on September 7th, which will take up the majority of my week. I’m looking forward to getting back on a schedule and being productive all week. There are a few exciting events in the upcoming weeks, and I’m excited for this fall to get started!

I am going to go make use of the rest of this cozy day (and keep trying to find old school computer games that will actually work on my MacBook Pro *cough Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego*).

Home Sweet Home.. for a few days

After 17 long hours in the car, we finally made it home! This past week was so relaxing. I love days where nothing matters except making sure that you apply sunscreen regularly (which I occasionally forgot, and the result is some painful spots on my legs). The trip was filled with tons of laughter, lots of booze, and just plain ‘ole fun. I think that one of the things that draws me to Hilton Head is the fact that the routine is always the same. Stumble out of bed around 9, eat some breakfast, pack up for the beach, spend the whole day there (taking a few breaks to cool off in the pool and grill some lunch), get back from the beach, cook some dinner, and play (drinking) games all night long (and by ‘all night’ I mean until 11pm when I’m too tired to function and pass out).

I’m bracing myself for some major changes in the next few weeks, but hopefully they’ll be good ones. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from this vacation (from my camera anyway)

I hope everyone had a great week, and is getting the chance to relax!

Aching legs

Today started out on a pretty good note. I got to the gym nice and early, just in time for the Real Housewives of New Jersey marathon, which always keeps me entertained. I got in my 5k workout, only 4 weeks to go before I can start the 10k workouts! Yay! On my way home, I finally got my ipod to work in Shrek, so I got to jam out the whole way back. Ballin’ in the minivan, couldn’t ask for more.

NOT.

However, the second I walked in the door, I was greeted with a wallpaper steamer and a ladder and was told to get to work, which I did. My legs have not hurt this bad since I started going to the gym again, and I’m so ready for bed. It’s amazing how much of a workout climbing up and down a ladder for 6+ hours is, and how sore my arms are for holding up the steamer and using a spackle-knife to scrape off the paper can be. We still haven’t even finished one room, so it looks as though my schedule for the next few days is going to be pretty packed.

My cousin came up to “the country” today from NYC, and we made dinner and it was finally cool enough to enjoy dinner on the back deck. I have to say, that besides my bedroom, the deck is my favorite place at my house. The backyard is so quiet and relaxing, almost like a separate world. I love taking books outside, laying out, and I’m assuming that while the weather is nice in the late summer and early fall, it is going to be my number 1 place to study for my classes.

This day has been extremely long, but I wanted to make sure that I could get a post in before midnight 🙂 Trying to accomplish AT LEAST one goal before September! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
