I realized today that I haven’t posted in a few days. I realized tonight that having a record of the fun/interesting/exciting things that I’ve done this summer has been nice, and while I had planned on not keeping this blog active once the summer ended, I think I’ll keep it, for a little while longer at least.
Kristen came up this weekend, which was wonderful! Even though she was only here for a night, it was a nice change to have someone under the age of 50 to chat with over dinner, and interact with someone my own age. I forgot how much I missed all of my friends until now. Luckily, I’ll be back in Blacksburg in 12 days, so I’ll get another fix soon 🙂
This week is going to be kind of crazy. I start classes on Tuesday (at 8am, ouch), will be working 2 closing shifts, and starting a new internship (as well as continuing the old one). That gives me about 12 hours each day to sleep, do homework, eat, go to the gym, and anything else that I might want to do. I’m also going to North Carolina on Friday for my brother’s parent’s weekend! It’s going to be the first collegiate football game that I have gone to and NOT cheered for Virginia Tech. Weird.
Tomorrow kicks off VT’s football season against #3 Boise State. While I know the odds are against my Hokies to dominate on the field, there’s a small hope that our defense will pull through and hopefully Tyrod Taylor will take charge on offense. Tuesday’s class will be either a great, or a terrible start to the week!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and GO HOKIES!
Today had to be the most productive day I’ve had in a LONG time. Woke up early, got to the gym at a reasonable hour (and stayed for a large amount of time.. gotta get my life in order for the calories that will be consumed via alcohol this weekend), ran tonssss of errands (including getting a “really good price” on running shorts.. except for the fact that I got children’s instead of women’s.. woops! No wonder the price was so “good”!), a trip to walmart, finally finishing the picture wall in my room, and cleaning the house for my sisters to come tomorrow! I even finished the FIRST chapter (out of 15) of my Medical Terminology class! Overall, I think I did pretty well!
Other than running around all day, nothing exciting enough to write about went down. I’m so excited to have visitors this weekend and to get this upcoming week over with so I can go to the BEACH! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
I leave for the beach in 8 days. Thank GOD.
I spent today trying to cross things off my to-do list. I got a good 2 hours of studying done for my Medical Terminology class, and I’m actually starting to get the hang of dissecting words and figuring out what they mean! I finished decorating my bathroom (CHECK) which is exciting, and now, the rest of the week (aka tomorrow) is going to be filled with cleaning and preparing for SISTERS to come this weekend!
Next week will be pretty busy getting ready for the beach, packing, getting all the food and beachy things together! Leaving bright and early Friday morning, and I CAN’T WAIT!
I’m going to get to studying some more before bed! Happy Thursday!
August begins on Sunday. Where have the last three months gone!? I’ve been home since May and I feel like I have been in a whirlwind. So much has happened, good and bad, and I just can’t believe that in a few short weeks, my life is going to be throw into a routine of classes, work, and internships! I just cannot wrap my mind around that.
So far this summer, I have lost my job before it began (I just love petty bullshit), been to Block Island, painted, taken a few trips to NYC, seen a few of my best friends (and a few more this weekend!), played in Vegas, and what seems like so much more. I feel like I have grown as a person (as cheesy as that sounds) since I have had to deal with so much in the few short weeks after graduation. I have lost friends, made friends, and become better friends with those who used to be just acquaintances. I have learned how to handle myself in stressful situations, as well as how to be happy with my life while I am living at home (it’s going to be easier once I get into a routine of interacting with people below the age of 50 on a regular basis). As long as I can get my life together and get studying over the next week, I will be on track with where I want to be and ready to start submitting Grad School applications in October!
It’s bound to be a busy few months, but I’m excited to see how it all turns out!
This summer hasn’t been very eventful, but I can’t say that it’s been completely boring either. I’ve graduated from college, gone to baby showers and bridal showers, taken a trip across the country to Las Vegas, stripped wallpaper, seen one of my best friends at least once a week, gotten lost in New York City (complete with totaled car)and have spent a ton of time with my family. BUT, none of these events can replace the days spent lounging in the sorority house; watching movies, being hungover, but best of all, being surrounded by my favorite people in the world!
Over the past 2 days I have been able to make plans with many of my friends and sisters to see one another, mostly within the next two weeks! I have adventures planned to romp in the city, have a summer bbq on my deck, and lay in the sun on one of my favorite beaches in the world.. all before the end of August! Once this vacation is over, I’ll have to get back into the swing of classes, working, completing my internship, and best of all, visiting BLACKSBURG for HOKIE FOOTBALL!
Lots of things to look forward to in the upcoming months! Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
I spent over 6 hours in the car today. 3 hours driving to and from JFK to drop off a friend at the airport, and 3 more to drop my grandfather off at a different airport. I really don’t feel the need to be in the car anytime soon for an extended period of time.
Now that I’m finally back in my room, I have had some time to get my life together. Added 2 more grad schools to the application list (Boston University and Eastern Kentucky University) and have yet to complete even 1 hour of studying for the GREs. Luckily, Kristen is coming tomorrow for the night, so Sunday is looking like the perfect day to spend all day studying Medical Terminology and cracking open that GRE book.
Took a trip to Walmart (FINALLY), the closest one is almost an hour away, so it is a treat (if that could possibly be the right word) when we get to go. I have almost completed the re-decoration of my room, and need to pick up a few more black picture frames to hang on my walls. I’m hoping to have it all done by next weekend when two more friends are coming to spend the weekend!
This whole being back in my room thing is amazing, so I’m going to go watch Bethenny Getting Married? AGAIN and take in having my own space! Goodnight!
